The Therapeutic Process

Orientation
The first meeting with a psychologist is a significant step at the beginning of the therapeutic journey. In this phase, we get to know each other and explore together the needs and concerns that led you to therapy. The goal is to begin establishing a framework of safety and trust, within which you can speak freely and feel truly heard.
The therapeutic relationship is built on acceptance, respect, and authentic presence. These elements help in the gradual development of a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. At the same time, during this initial phase, we discuss practical matters, such as the frequency of sessions, confidentiality, and the way in which we will work together.
The orientation phase sets the foundation for a meaningful and lasting psychotherapeutic process that can support your mental health and personal growth.
Every person comes to therapy with their own unique story. Our role is to stand by you with respect, understanding, and genuine interest. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to begin, as long as there is the intention to care for oneself. Orientation is exactly that: the first, steady step toward a more meaningful relationship with yourself.

EXPLORATION
As the therapeutic relationship becomes established, psychotherapy moves into a deeper stage of processing. In this phase, we begin to approach more substantially the experiences, emotions, and behavioral patterns that influence the way we relate to ourselves and others. Through the steady connection and the safety that has already been built, internal conflicts and unconscious aspects of the inner world become visible.
The exploration of these issues takes place through open dialogue, free expression, and reflection. The therapist is there with an empathic presence, not to provide answers, but to help decode experiences and meanings that often remain in silence. This process enhances self-awareness and provides space for the emergence of new ways of thinking, emotional processing, and behavior.
Exploration is not just about difficulties. It is also the moment when personal resources, elements of resilience, and values that may have been sidelined are recognized. Gradually, the sense begins to form that change is not only desirable but also achievable. Through this deeper inner work, a more stable and functional psychological ground is created, upon which a new relationship with oneself can be built.

ANALYSIS AND EVOLUTION
As therapy progresses, the process begins to gain more clarity and meaning. What we have already worked on together now creates a more solid foundation upon which we can move forward. In this phase, we connect your experiences more effectively, recognize old patterns of thought or behavior, and gradually begin to change what no longer serves you. Psychotherapy becomes more active and focused, helping you feel greater internal stability.
Analysis is not just about understanding the past. It is also about how you can move forward with greater awareness and confidence. Together, we set realistic and personal goals, always respecting your own pace and needs. These goals emerge through our therapeutic collaboration and serve as a steady guide throughout the journey.
At this stage, we focus on strengthening the skills that help you manage the difficulties of everyday life. At the same time, more functional and healthy ways of connecting with yourself and others are cultivated. Progress is monitored with honesty and flexibility, acknowledging that change is not always linear – but it can be deep and meaningful.
This phase does not merely mark the end of a therapeutic journey. Quite often, it is the beginning of a new way of living: more conscious, more authentic, and closer to what you truly desire. Through the self-awareness and psychological resilience that have been developed, the conditions are created for greater autonomy and a more meaningful connection with your personal values.
